Networks are often too big to be controlled, and moreover are not built to be control. A key issue to be addressed is then the selection of an appropriate set of nodes of the network where to inject the control signal so as to maximize the set of nodes that can be controlled. Optimal strategies for the selection of the nodes to be pinning controlled have been devised for directed networks of nonlinear systems.
