Yann Tiersen's Works

Born in 1970, Yann Tiersen has composed and performed music for recordings and movie soundtracks. His style is minimalist and avant-garde. In some of his live performances he is accompanied by an orchestra with guest collaborators. In others he is accompanied only by a drummer/bassist and a guitarist, while he plays piano, accordion, and violin (for his lighter pieces), and electric guitar (for his louder pieces).

Comptine d'été n° 1 (Summer Nursery Rhyme, number 1) and Rue des cascades (Cascade Street)  are pieces from Tiersen's 1996 album Rue des cascades.

La Valse des monstres (The Monsters' Waltz) is a piece from Yann Tiersen's 1995 album with the same name, and was written for the theatrical adaptation of the 1932 American movie Freaks. The piece was featured in the 2001 movie Amélie.

L'Absente is a song from Yann Tiersen's 2001 studio-album with the same name, in which Tiersen plays many instruments including a typewriter and a pot. The album reached number-41 on the French Albums Chart.

Le Matin (Morning) is a piece from Tiersen's 2005 album Les Retrouvailles (Homecoming) which features several vocalists as well as  performances by Tiersen on accordion, piano, mandolin, harpsichord, and other instruments.

Naval is the second track of Tiersen's 2008 album Tabarly, the original soundtrack for the 2008 documentary movie Tabarly. (Éric Tabarly was a French sailing champion.)
