PNW and Other Meetings
Almost every month of the school year, PNW and other groups meet to share ideas on teaching physics as well as community events related to science and engineering. Here is where we have gathered information about those meetings for you to explore.
1. PNW March Meeting at Lakes Community HS
Tuesday, March 10th
Lakes Community HS
We are really looking forward to host PNW this month at Lakes Community High School! Although we are pretty far north, we hope many of you can still try to make it. Please feel free to reach out to friends/colleagues from the northern suburbs so we can expand this group to include even more intelligent, kind, funny, (and probably weird) physics teachers! The schedule will be the usual:
Phood 6-7pm
Phun 7-8pm
Please fill out the google form below so we can order the appropriate amount of food for everyone! Bought from Antioch Pizza!

Address is 1600 Eagle Way Lake Villa, IL 60046. Parking will be at the front of the building. Enter through the main entrance and signs will direct you to rooms C238 and C239. Direct questions to Joshua Walgren at joshua.walgren@chsd117.org
We hope to see you there - bring a colleague! :)
2. I/CSAAPT Spring Meeting at Harper College
Please join ISAAPT and CSAAPT for our joint spring meeting at Harper College in Palatine, IL on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28. This year’s theme is Physics Collaborations, and the best part of collaboration is you.
We are excited to feature:
Dr. Lauren Niu presenting “Geometry of Knitting”, complete with hands-on samples
Dr. Caroline Piaulet-Ghorayeb presenting “The Exoplanet Zoo: from cotton candy planets to water worlds and the search for life”
Matt Lowry presenting “Physics Northwest: 40 Years of Collaboration, Community, and Connections Among High School Physics Teachers in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago (plus advice on how you can do it, too!)”
You are also warmly invited to join us Friday morning for an Accessibility Brunch hosted by CSAAPT. Bring a laptop and spend a few focused hours making your materials more accessible alongside colleagues who understand the challenges. Prefer something hands-on? Attend the iOlab workshop.
We hope you’ll consider giving a talk and sharing your ideas and successes. Student presenters are especially encouraged to participate in our student research competition.
Come for a few hours or stay for both days. Reconnect with colleagues, meet new collaborators, and leave with ideas you can use immediately.
Visit our meeting website Illinois Section AAPT - Spring 2026 for registration details or email the Harper College hosts at rgraessl@harpercollege.edu.
We can’t wait to collaborate with you!
