Keep few things in mind before dual booting i.e. Windows and Ubuntu [my case]

After having partition and free space of your choice

Install USB Ubuntu and use option something else

1. Make first swap area of the RAM installed like 6Gb then Swap area is 2XRAM

2. Select the remaining area as your root i.e. \

3. Install the complete UBUNTU in the \

After Finish installing

Use prerequisites that will be helpful in running Ubuntu easy and well

4. gnome-tweaks,

5. synaptic manager

6. gnome drawing [in case using wacom or tablet]

7. sudo apt update

8. sudo apt upgrade

Few things : no need to install -std=C17 as g++ already have this. Directly install the ROOT or GEANT4 directly from the page.
