Current Rates

All rates shown are for one hour of tuition. You may request a different session length such as 45 or 90 minutes etc. and this is charged on a pro-rata basis rounded up to the nearest £1.

The rates apply to tuition given at my address or online and these rates do NOT include Travelling Expenses*. 

I can also be found on several tutoring agencies web sites but if you contact me via an agency then you would have to either pay up-front for my details or pay a commission on each hour of tuition. I charge a "flat rate" for tuition at all levels. This rate was last updated in May 2023 and will be fixed until further notice at:

• Undergraduate .........................................£40

Online Tuition:

There are numerous ways in which we could communicate "live" on-line and new ones are regularly being invented. Currently all my online tutees join an audio (for them) and video (for me) Google Meet call so I can hear them and they can both see and hear me. Most of the work is then done on a shared Google Jamboard which is automatically saved but can also be downloaded as a pdf document if desired. There is no need to sign up to a paid service to do one-to-one tuition. If you are interested in this option then contact me to discuss a practical solution for you and to test that it works. Another advantage is there would be no travel time or expenses for either of us.

*Travelling expenses:

If I tutor at your address then you will be charged extra for each session to compensate me both for vehicle running costs and time taken. The exact amount will depend on the distance and journey time (i.e. the same journey may take far longer in the early evening rush hour than later the same night). 

As a guide, I charge for my travel time at my hourly rate (see above) and running costs at 45p per mile (round trip). So if you live 15 miles from me (by road) and the round trip takes me 50 minutes then expect to pay £34 for my time plus £14 for fuel & running costs: £48 total. The fee for the hours of tuition is then charged in addition to this.

I will calculate the actual travel expenses that I would charge based on your location and would agree this with you prior to commencing tuition.
