The simplest method to visualize magnetic field's lines is to sprinkle iron or steel filings uniformly on a paper, plastic, or acrylic sheet. When you place a magnet under the sheet, the filings will form lines that visualize the magnetic field.

A little bit different pattern can be obtained if you switch the steps: place the magnet first, and then sprinkle the filings.
Another method of visualizing the magnetic field is to use small compasses. The method is briefly described in the lab report, and here are pictures documenting that method.
An important part of this lab is a presentation of the research results.
Please make either a photograph or a video using a cell or any other device. Make sure that the picture shows the magnetic field lines. a good test question is whether you could use your photograph or video at school to explain the magnetic field theory.
