FAQs:
Am I eligible to apply?
To apply for membership you must be a third, fourth, fifth, or sixth year (P1-P4) PharmD student enrolled in the School of Pharmacy-Boston at MCPHS University in good academic standing.
Does my CV need to outlined exactly as in the application form?
No. You can format your CV in whichever way you like, but these are important areas we highly recommend you include somewhere in your CV.
Who can write my MCPHS University letter of recommendation? Who is included in my non-MCPHS University letter?
People who can represent MCPHS University in writing your letter of recommendation can include any current faculty, staff, or any other employees of MCPHS University. Former faculty or staff of MCPHS University, or anyone not officially affiliated with the University, can count towards your non-MCPHS University affiliated letter.
**NOTE: If you are an international student or have not held an off campus pharmacy position, you may use two MCPHS-affiliated letters of recommendation**
When do letters of recommendation need to be received by?
All letters of recommendation must be received by the deadline date of Sunday November 3rd, 2024 at 11:59pm. To maintain fairness we cannot accept late letters of recommendation. We therefore advise having letters emailed as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to give the person submitting your letter adequate time and to follow up with them.
Where can I go to get CV help?
We recommend contacting the MCPHS University Career Services.
I applied last year, should I apply again?
We encourage all eligible students to apply, including those who applied previously.
Should I keep my CV "pharmacy oriented" or include everything?
We encourage including all your activities so we can accurately evaluate your application. As a pharmacy leadership society, however, applicants must demonstrate leadership in pharmacy-related activities.
Who can write my recommendation?
The application states that one letter should be from a member of the past or present MCPHS community who will only speak to on-campus leadership activities, and the second letter should be from a member of the community who will only speak to off-campus leadership activities.
Should information from previous colleges or high school be included in the application?
Please include all relevant information during your time at MCPHS or other colleges/universities only. Activities that started prior to your collegiate years and continued during college should still be included.
How detailed does each part of my CV need to be?
Please see the application for our recommendations of what to include. Each part of your CV should be thorough enough to detail your roles as a leader, yet concise and relevant.
What do I wear to an interview?
Please dress professionally/business casual and treat your PLS interview with the same respect as a job interview.
Who will interview me?
You will be interviewed by one current student member and one faculty member or one alumni member.
Can current PLS members help me with my application?
No. PLS members have signed an honesty pledge to not provide assistance to any applicant with the application process.
