Short Bio:
I received the Informatics and Telecommunications Degree and the Doctorate degree in Information Technology from the National University of Athens, Greece, in 2005 and 2009 respectively. Since June 2016, I have been an Associate professor at IMT Atlantique Bretagne/Pays de la Loire (formerly known as École Nationale Supérieure de Télécommunications de Bretagne), Department of Informatics. In April 2023, I obtained my HDR in "Computer Vision and Robot Navigation in 3D Environments" from the University of Western Brittany (UBO), France. My main research interests lie in the fields of Cognitive Robotics, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence, destined for human-centered applications of robotics, from search & rescue to assistive living, having co-authored numerous publications in top-tier journals and conferences in these domains.
Previous positions:
2014-2016: Post-doctoral researcher at teams COGROB/U2IS of ENSTA ParisTech, University of Paris-Saclay and FLOWERS, INRIA.
2012-2014: Post-doctoral researcher at teams e-Motion of INRIA at Grenoble and LAGADIC of INRIA at Sophia-Antipolis, France.
2010-2012: Post-doctoral researcher at laboratory ALCOR in the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering, University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy.
2005-2009: Doctorate candidate in Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens, Greece.
Affiliated with laboratory CIL, Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, NCSR "Demokritos", Athens, Greece.
Current activities:
I am currently involved in several projects with academic as well as industrial partners (see https://www.imt-atlantique.fr/en/person/panagiotis-papadakis#edit-group-encadrements as well as Projects tab) in domains at the intersection of assistive robotics, urban search and rescue, machine learning and digital twin.
