The mission of Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville shall be to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and thus, God the Father through obedience to the word of God and the worship of the triune Godhead.
To that end the church will execute the great commission in the preaching of the gospel for the purpose of making disciples, baptizing the same in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all things the Lord has commanded by proclaiming the whole counsel of God.
By these means, the church will endeavor to be used instrumentally to perpetuate the faith once delivered to the saints.
Saved By Grace. Seeking God Together.
Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville was founded and organized by Elder R. H. Kennedy and deacons on September 22, 1932. The original name of the church was Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Kennedy found a number of families, mostly sharecroppers who did not feel comfortable attending the larger, established churches in the area. They gathered in homes of many of the families to sing and have prayer. Meetings were also held in a one-room schoolhouse about half a mile down the road from the site of the current church location.
On September 28, 1936, one-half acre of land was deeded to the Pine Grove Primitive Baptist as a gift from W. S. Mosley. On September 20, 1939, one and one-tenth acres of land was deeded to the church as a gift from Rufus West. The first building of block and mortar was erected in the spring of 1940. Several additions have been added since. Elder Kennedy served as pastor for 22 years until 1954. He passed away in 1956 and is buried in the church cemetery.
With a continued loss of its aging members and a shortage of qualified preachers, the congregation considered changing the church to that of a Missionary Baptist rather than close the doors. However, on May 1, 2008, Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church became known as Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville, and Reverend David Moxley was called as the first pastor of the new church.
