But do you know Aljmas?
Where the heck is Aljmas?
Lean back and relax, your holiday is already on! Aljmas is a small village in Slavonia, Croatia.
Idyllic location, right on the entry of the Drau into the Danube.
Surrounded by vineyards and untouched nature, away from all tourist centers - and yet right in front of your door.
You travel preferably by car or by plane and then by rental car right to your front door.
Of course, right on your doorstep!
You have rented an apartment in Aljmas!
Park your car in the yard and walk through the garden to your farmhouse, built in traditional local style.
Adapted to the needs of modern people, it is of course air-conditioned and equipped with LCD TV with satellite channels, DVD, stereo, minibar and coffee bar.
For the storage of your valuables, a safe is available in your bedroom.
Take your time for a refreshing shower in the bathroom and then experience the feeling of walking barefoot over the oak floorboards laid throughout the apartment.
Sit comfortably on the couch of your 50m² apartment and enjoy your arrival with a glass of wine or go to the Relax Zone in the gallery and relax with a good book.
Depending on the weather, you can "throw in" a cozy fire in the stove, or simply switch on the air conditioning at the touch of a button or relax by the pool.
Sooo much relaxation! What else can I do?
Depending on the season, pick fresh vegetables from the garden bed or pick some pears from the tree, or pick some walnuts or hazelnuts.
Cool your watermelon in the ice-cold garden fountain or simply - but boring - in the fridge.
Depending on the season, our free-range chickens set out for breakfast every day - sometimes two on Sundays
Pick one more, two plump cherries or plums on the way to the village supermarket and then send a postcard to your jealous friends and acquaintances.
And what else?
Start the day with a breakfast from teta Susi (eg, fried eggs, bacon, bread, ...)
You certainly have a boat with you - if you do not rent one and go fishing, or marvel at the boat on the Danube nature through the many tributaries and maybe discover a boar, a deer or a fox - even water skiers had been seen.
Experience nature and people up close with long walks and countless photo opportunities.
Go hunting or fishing, or take a trip into the city to Osijek (20min), the spa to Bizovac (35min), the Kopacki Rit Nature Reserve or marvel at the world's largest used Slavonian oak barrel in the winery in Erdut, right next to the castle.
Osijek offers a variety of cultural opportunities such as museums, operas, theaters, galleries and much more, as well as interesting sights such as the old town, the market and countless little things that you can even discover.
Excursions make you hungry!
Right!
The Slavonian kitchen has more to offer than Cevapcici and Raznjici.
Just let cook for yourself! Either in the simple pubs in town or at home.
The cook comes to your home!
While you relax in the hammock with a glass of beer, he prepares Slavonian specialties for you in the garden on the grill or he cooks a spicy fish soup (fis-chilli) over the open fire, or a wild boar stew (cobanac) and with home-made pasta or fresh white bread.
Did you already eat baked pike-perch with potato salad, or did you try Slavonian sausage specialties (kobasice, kulen)?
For this one drinks e.g. Wine from the vineyard next door. All you can drink!
For dessert you order a few delicious sweets from teta Susi - of course homemade!
