The club has existed at the YMCA in Peterborough for nearly 65 years and has helped thousands of adults and children to become more fit and more confident while having fun. The club was founded at the old YMCA location on George Street North and was the first martial arts club of any kind in Peterborough. It is named in honour of Mr. Frank Hatashita of Toronto, the "Father of Canadian Judo", and the teacher of our Head Instructor, Mr. Brown.
The club is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, but is particularly well known for having popular and dynamic junior classes that bring people back again and again. It is not uncommon to have junior judokas that are the grandchildren of members from the early years of the club!
