Boys & Girls Club STEM Initiative Volunteer Event - 12/13 at the Boys & Girls Club of Pensacola

Post date: Nov 17, 2016 3:52:52 PM

This December we are going to introduce elementary students to the what, how, and why of structures. This event will include a presentation on the basics of structures and a "Build a Ginger Bread Structure" activity using graham crackers, icing, and candy. Volunteers are needed to help create and give the presentation and/or assist with the activity. We expect about 50 elementary students, so any help with this activity is appreciated. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their kids to participate in this event.

When: Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM; Presentation from 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM; Activity from 4:45 PM - 6:00 PM

Where: Boys & Girls Club - 2751 North H Street, Pensacola, FL 32501

Presentation Volunteers will help with the context and look of the presentation - an outline has already been created - as well as deliver the presentation to the students (if able). We would like to have a different presenter for each concept (about 4-5).

Activity Assistance Volunteers will help pass out supplies, answer questions, assist students with their structures if needed, monitor and encourage students, and clean up. We are looking for 10 or more volunteers for this portion in order for everything to go smoothly. Please feel free to volunteer even if you cannot stay for the entirety of the event or can only arrive towards the end. There will be plenty to help out with throughout this event.

If you are interested in being a volunteer for all or part of this event, please contact the Community Service Chair, Brandy Netherton at either bnetherton15@gmail.com or (601) 447-4424.
