Associate Professor with Habilitation

Pedro Cabral is Associate Professor with Habilitation in GIS at NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS), Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. He holds a PhD from EHESS, Paris, and conducted postdoctoral research at IFREMER–University of Western Brittany. From 2023 to 2026, he was Full Professor and Longshan Scholar at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), China.
His research focuses on Earth Observation, GeoAI, spatial data science, and environmental modelling, with particular emphasis on ecosystem productivity, climate impacts, carbon dynamics, and ecosystem resilience. He has authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and has been recognized among the Stanford/Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists in multiple years.
He serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Urban Planning and Development (ASCE) and Big Earth Data (Taylor and Francis), and as an Editorial Board Member of Discover Data (Springer).
