For all instruments: There is an app called "Bandmate". It is awesome, because when you play a note it will show you the name of the note you are playing and it's location on the staff. This is especially helpful for brass players, because each valve combination or slide position has several different notes (called partials) that can be played. It is very difficult for a beginner to know which note they are playing, and this app shows you! It is a free app, and here is the website:
https://www.bandmatetuner.com/
Please encourage your child to watch these videos at home and practice playing our first 5 notes. The goal is a long and steady tone to gain control, build embouchure muscles, and increase consistency.
Thank you for supporting your child in the awesome endeavor of BAND!
