MICHAEL PARR is a versatile and sought after performer who has been seen and heard in operas, oratorios, musicals, and concerts throughout North America, Europe and most recently Asia. Michael was seen singing on the Cable Network feature "Time Out for Opera" and on the Church of Today's weekly national television broadcasts. As a winner of the Friedrich Schorr International Voice Competition, he was selected to sing Honegger's King David and also performed in the Croswell Opera House's production of La Boheme. Over the past seasons Michael has been a regular with the Arbor Opera Theatre performing lead roles in such operas as La Pizza con Funghi, La Nozze di Figaro, and Amahl in the Night Visitors. Michael has performed many seasons with the Michigan Opera Theatre's professional opera chorus and shared the stage for the gala to open the Detroit Opera House with Luciano Pavoratti. He has also performed as a soloist for the Michigan Opera Theatre's Community Outreach Program, the Fort Street Chorale and Orchestra, the Michigan Sinfonietta Orchestra, the Great Lakes Opera Company, the Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. He has performed extensively in the musical theatre genre including leading roles in such productions as: Jekyll & Hyde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Showboat, The Secret Garden, Cinderella, Once Upon a Mattress, Annie, and Babes in Toyland. Often seen “guest-ing” throughout the area Mr. Parr has often been commended on his ability to cross into jazz, early musical theatre, song and even “popera” with ease and ability. Michael is featured on over twenty recordings some of which include the works of Victor Herbert, Jerome Kern, Louis Hirsch, Karl Hoschna, and Rudolf Friml.
Michael received his Masters in Music (Vocal Performance) at the University of Alberta and he maintains an award winning studio, PAVArts, in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Our academy students have achieved Provincial competition standings in Alberta's music festivals and Gold medals in Speech Arts and Vocal Arts from Conservatory Canada and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
KIMERICA PARR is an award winning vocalist, actress, educator, stage director, and adjudicator. She has been a performer in many operas, oratorios, musicals and concerts in Canada, the USA, Europe, and most recently Asia. She has been seen performing on the Cable Network feature Time Out for Opera and on the YTV series Deke Wilson's Mini-Mysteries. As a young artist apprentice at the Michigan Opera Theatre, she performed in Faust, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, and The Gala Opening Concert of the Detroit Opera House featuring Luciano Pavoratti. Kimerica also performed with the Michigan Opera Theater Community Outreach Program, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Windsor Community Orchestra, the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings and the AIMS Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Edoardo Müller.
Kim completed her Bachelor Degree in Music (Voice) and then a Bachelor Degree in Education (Drama and Music) at the University of Windsor. Winning many awards in the local Kiwanis Music Festivals, she represented Windsor at the Provincial Competition. She has performed the lead role in many musical productions including: Mame, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Showboat, The Secret Garden, Les Misérables, Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, and Annie Get Your Gun (in both English and German). Kim is also featured on over sixteen recordings of the works of Victor Herbert, Jerome Kern, Louis Hirsch, Karl Hoschna, Rudolf Friml and is featured on the Barbara Gail Parry CD Carla Can Sing.
Kimerica was the Artistic Director of Rose City Rising Stars Theatre Guild Inc., for fourteen years. She has also worked as stage director, assistant stage director, stage manager, orchestra conductor and choreographer on many productions for companies such as Michigan Opera Theatre, Comic Opera Guild, Windsor Light Opera, Bloomfield Players, Theatre Intrigue and many high schools and colleges. She has directed over fifty different productions; some favourites include The Secret Garden, Jekyll and Hyde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Fantasticks, H.M.S. Pinafore, and The Pirates of Penzance. Kimerica received a mayoral award to recognize her contribution of excellence in the arts for the city of Windsor.
Kim is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Alberta Registered Music Teacher’s Association, Music Teacher’s National Association and The Alberta Teacher’s Association, and she is also endorsed by the renowned Royal Conservatory of Music. Her students have placed and won the Provincial Competitions in Ontario and Alberta, as well as received the Gold Medal award from Royal Conservatory of Music. She currently maintains an active studio at Keyano College, in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
