Our academy seeks to train students to be fully functioning musicians and orators. To not only get up and successfully perform a song or speech for a public audience, but to also to learn the theory and requisite skills for the respective art form. We seek to have students both appreciate and enjoy the work that goes into developing their art. We specialize in Vocal Arts, Speech Arts, and Performance Arts.
What Makes Us Different? We care for each individual artist and it is our goal to help them become their best selves through the work they do.
Our academy approach is divided into three sections to provide excellence in learning: (1) private voice and speech instruction, (2) small group instruction; and (3) ensemble class. (1) Private voice instruction is necessary to help a student better understand themselves as an artist and for the teacher to bring out the unique quality of the individual’s vocal ability. During private voice instruction, students learn solo repertoire for both voice and speech arts. We follow a curriculum based approach from the renowned Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and encourage all of students to take a yearly RCM exam for their respective level of ability. In addition to a professional ear during private instruction, we utilize a computer technology called Smartmusic to assist students in learning their vocal repertoire during their private practice. (2) Small group instruction is a great time for learning musical theory and musicianship skills; we also focus on performance based skills and encourage students to try out performance ideas in a supportive environment. (3) Music and speech, like most things in life, is mostly collaborative in nature and so the ensemble class is used to help students come together to share in the art form collaboratively.
