I follow the NBER Research Disclosure Policy: http://www.nber.org/researchdisclosurepolicy.html

No relationship other than my salary from Dartmouth College, Harvard University, and the London Business School (or other visiting academic institutions) has accounted for more than 20% of my income in a year. In most years, paid non-university activities have accounted for less than 5% of my University-based income.

Research Grants. [mostly covering research expenses, such as data collection and organization, recruitment of Post-Docs and Research Assistants, purchase of books and software, website development, sometimes grants entail "teaching buyout"]
