I am planning on making a physics comparison between potatoes and lead cannonballs. In the meantime, I am sharing one of my favorite shots.

We wanted to maximize the amount of pressure on the cannonball for velocity. We knew that we are losing a significant amount of pressure because the ball does not fit in the barrel tightly. So, we packed the cannon with potato-leadball-potato, in order to create a sabo for the shot. When we fired the shot, we really had no idea what had transpired until after we examined the footage.

Much to everyone's surprise, the first potato collided with the melon and imparted all of its energy to the melon (splitting it open). Then the cannonball punched through. The back potato fragmented and deflected over the target. Lastly, the residual air pressure from the release blew the mist, the melon shrapnel, and the melon carcass over.
