I will probably turn this into an "announcement" style page and use it as a stream of conscience about science blog. Until then, here is the first installment.

Chemistry, like any science pervades every aspect of life. From food to construction, from metals to computers, the knowledge and application of science has its influence.
Our specialization of labor has become so multifaceted that there is no one person that knows how to do everything necessary in the the construction of everyday items. For example, if you wanted something like a set of headphones for your audio player, you could not find one person that could make that for you. One person would be able to mine the ore, another to smelt it into metal, the next to form it into wire, and so on. This does not even include the plastic casing, or even magnets for the speakers.
Here is person that decided to try to make a toaster completely on his own.
