Bridge Players
We start at 1 PM on Mondays in the Cardroom by selecting random partners and tables. The games lasts till about 3:30 PM. We play “party bridge” where the winners move toward table #1 as the games progress.
Advantages of playing bridge:
1. Keeps your mind sharp—don’t forget the old saying “use it or lose it”
2. Socialize with a very nice supportive group
So how do you learn to play? You can read books, take lessons (see below) or one of the best ways to learn is simply doing it…in our case…play the game. We all make mistakes—that is OK. Many bridge players find mistakes make for challenging play.
As Ken learned to play tournament Bridge, his Bridge Master partner encouraged him to play in tournaments in spite of his mistakes. His team sometimes won the night because his mistakes challenged his partner in situations other teams did not normally play. This provided an outstanding way to learn very good bridge skills. Everyone enjoyed the learning experience.
So we hope this encourages others to come and enjoy the challenging fun of playing party bridge. Please feel free to drop in on Mondays and join the games or simply “kibitz.” Kibitz means to watch over the shoulders of others to see how you might play the cards.
See you on Mondays at 1 PM.
