Harold Lash, Artist

About the Artist

Harold Lash is a self-taught abstract visual artist who lives and works in Philadelphia. He was born in Pottsville Pennsylvania anthracite coal regions in 1963 and gravitated to art at a very young age. In high school, he received a full scholarship to the Art Institute to study commercial art.

Harold’s artwork reflects his long journey through addiction, which began in 1979. He has been in recovery since 2007. A prolific art maker, Harold’s expansive body of work moves through his recovery and celebrates his freedom from self-medication.

Harold worked as a doorman in Philadelphia hotels and condos for 20 years, which allowed him to have a studio at 2315 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. Harold’s work has been exhibited in Philadelphia galleries, restaurants and coffee shops. His artwork may be seen in local law, medical and business offices.
