30th POMS Annual Conference Doctoral Consortium , Washington DC, Saturday, May 4 2019

I am organizing the POMS Doctoral Consortium. The purpose of the POMS Doctoral Consortium is to help doctoral students maximize their chances of having successful and fulfilling academic careers. We have an impressive line-up of eminent colleagues who will share their advice on finding the right academic position and progressing towards excellence in research and teaching. The panelists include Hyun Soo Ahn, Vlad Babich, Wedad Elmaghrabhy, Lauren Lu, Georgia Perakis, Sridhar Tayur and Senthil Veeraraghavan.

Applications from doctoral students are invited. If capacity limits are reached, participants will be chosen on a first-come-first-serve basis.

About the Inaugural JHSHO

The theme of our first symposium, to be held on October 1, 2016, is “When Organ Transplantation Meets Operations Research.”

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Thought leaders in operations research/management science scholars from leading institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Rice University, University of Chicago, and United States Naval Academy;

  • Internationally acclaimed surgeons and medical innovators from premier academic hospitals such as Johns Hopkins Hospital, University of California, San Francisco, Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center, and NYU Langone Medical Center; and

  • Representatives from organ procurement, transplantation, and donation organizations.

This one-day symposium will bring together leading operations scholars, policy makers, and transplant surgeons to share cutting-edge research and practice in organ donation, allocation, and transplantation.

We welcome business, engineering, and medical school faculty, students, and researchers, as well as medical practitioners and policy makers to join us this fall.
