Work Experience
Optical Engineer Intern at Zemax, LLC (August 2021 – December 2021)
I was responsible for assisting the Customer Success Team in troubleshooting optical system designs. I played a key role in supporting the improvement of technical resources by collaborating with the software development team as I tested 50+ outstanding bugs reported in Zemax OpticStudio. My role also involved providing technical support on the community forums.
Graduate Research Assistant, Krauss Group, Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (June 2019 – present)
My primary field of expertise encompasses optical design, experimentation, and nanofabrication. I have been working on the fabrication of optical microcavities to generate exciton–polaritons originating from strong light–matter coupling and optical characterization of these polaritons using advanced imaging techniques to explore their potential applications. Throughout my work, I have tackled experimental challenges in depositing thin films of nanomaterials, leading to successful sample fabrication and employed data modeling to gain insights into the photophysical properties of polaritons. I also performed troubleshooting on the fluorescence measurement of CdSe nanoparticles to study individual molecules using confocal microscopy and optimized the experimental conditions to detect weak signals.
Graduate Teaching Assistant, Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (August 2019 – May 2022)
I worked as a teaching assistant for 'Quantum & Nano Optics Lab' and 'Sources/Detectors Lab' with Professor Svetlana Lukishova at the Institute of Optics. My primary role was supervising laboratory sessions for both undergraduate and graduate students while training them to successfully implement sophisticated experiments on quantum optics, optical metrology, and fiber lasers. My duties included testing and aligning optical systems before each experiment, followed by troubleshooting when necessary. The experiments cover a range of topics, including 'Quantum Entanglement', 'Single Photon Interference', 'Confocal Fluorescence Microscopy', 'Fluorescence Antibunching using Hanbury Brown and Twiss Setup', 'Mode-Locked Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser' and 'Photon Counting Statistics'. I also developed teaching–learning materials and conducted teaching workshops to train the future cohort of graduate teaching assistants.
Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Eastern University (May 2017 – July 2018)
My primary responsibility was teaching along with monitoring student progress. I taught 'Solid State Devices', 'Electric and Magnetic Fields', 'Electronics II' and 'Numerical Methods' as part of the undergraduate EEE curriculum. I was the coordinator of the Career Club formed to connect students with various industrial companies and provide them with career guidance. I was also a member of the 'Self Assessment Committee' aimed at quality assurance of the undergraduate EEE program.
Awards & Acknowledgements
Honored as an 'Exceptional Teaching Assistant' by the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (February 2022).
Contests & Challenges
New York Business Plan Competition (April 2023)
As a co-founder of the new venture 'FLYWAGON – Expeditious Drone Delivery for Outdoor Enthusiasts', I presented our business model at the New York Business Plan Competition (Finger Lakes Regional).
UR Next Gen Challenge (December 2021)
I participated in this think tank event to solve real industry problems with leading industry experts. I worked on developing ideas to motivate residential consumers to reduce their energy consumption remotely during periods of peak demand to address the current industry challenge for Meltek Inc. My team presented ‘Real-Time Feedback with Customer-Targeted Approach’ as a potential solution to the client.
