When galaxies come into close contact, they merge and interact, and repeat this process to reach the point we observe them at. Galaxy interactions and mergers are associated with various physical processes pertaining to galaxy evolution, such as enhanced star formation activity and the acceleration of accretion of gas onto supermassive black holes and subsequent lighting of active galactic nuclei (AGN). Despite its importance, there remain many questions to be answered about galaxy interactions and mergers. We attempt to develop a method to accurately classify interacting galaxies, and using the classified sample, we will conduct various studies on the physical properties of interacting galaxies to enhance our understanding of the relative role galaxy interactions plays in galaxy evolution.
