SBC deconstructing what's left of the East pier. A spokesperson for SBC said " We were going to rebuild it on the lake at Peasholme park for the battle cruiser moorings but it was too big. So we decided, democratically, that if we couldn't have it, Whitby couldn't either. Let's be fair, that's the way we've always made decisions, surely you remember when the old Wh!tby town council had enough money to buy a 50 metre indoor pool, well we didn't have one!" Whitby harbour committee held a secret public meeting and agreed with SBC's decision, adding "People fishing off the West pier can now cast right across the harbour bar on to the scaur and the rowers will pass under the lines on Regatta day, thus ending the abuse the anglers get when they accidently snag the lead crews number 1 in the back of the neck with a trace of 6 mackerel feathers, 3 muppets and a jigger." Apparrently Scarborough don't have an Abbey!Where's Woolies? Bankrupt, just like Kodak! Mind you, I believe tents are selling very well, must be the housing shortage.
