About me

I did my Ph.D. at The Economics Department at the Norwegian School of Economics, affiliated with FAIR/The Choice Lab.  

My main supervisor is Professor Bertil Tungodden, scientific director of the research group FAIR and co-director of The Choice Lab. My external supervisor is Bowman Family Professor Avner Greif, at The Department of Economics at Stanford University.

In Spring  2022 I was a Visiting Associate Professor at Stanford in the Department of Economics working with Professor Avner Greif on "A Theory of Moral Authority". 

From 2018 to 2020 I was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science post-doc at Hitotsubashi  University in Tokyo.

From 2013 to 2014  I was a visiting researcher at UC Berkley's Economics department. 

I have two master´s degrees, one in Economics from the University of Oslo and one in Political Economy and Political Science from The London School of Economics. I also have two bachelor´s degrees, one in Economics with a Law minor and one double major in Comparative Politics and Mathematical Statistics, both from The University of Bergen. I was a member of the Mathematics Students Union and worked as a journalist for the student newspaper at The University of Bergen; Studvest (2008). 

My work experience is as a researcher for the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment (2018), the Norwegian Drug and Alcohol Administration SIRUS (2012), and analyst for The Norwegian National Rail Administration (2010).

I am currently a member of the Progress Party as a board member and study leader of the Tromsø Progress PartyI was active in Young Liberals serving as chief international representative (2007-2008) and as a delegate to the 2008 National Congress of the National Meeting of the Liberal Party (Venstre) and the 2007 International Foundation for Liberal Youth conference.  In 2022-23 I have served on a local board and organized seminars and workshops on international political economy for the Center Party.  I like to describe myself as a libertarian realist which is somewhere between conservative and libertarian. 

I love reading; check out my books at Goodreads  Some of my favorite authors are  Rober Nozick, Jared Diamond, Jon Fosse, Cormack McCarthy, and Thomas Pynchon. In my spare time, I play chess, table tennis, and the guitar. I also enjoy running, juggling, and traveling, In 2023 I completed the Jõnkoping Ironman 70.3 triathlon and a full 10-day vipassana silent meditation retreat.  I also like to take photographs; some of them are on my Instagram account.

I live with my wife, Ina, and daughter, Freya, in Tromsø, Norway.
