MADT 307

MADT 307: Computational Media

This course introduces the student to programming languages and scripting languages, focusing on understanding the metaphors and potential of programming for applications, sound, video, performance, and interactive installations. Students will investigate two programming languages, one intensely and thoroughly, the other to a knowledgeable and competent level. As well, the student will learn one scripting language to a level of high competence. Students will find that programming is of strong benefit to artists; especially those interested in New Media practices, in gaming, and in emerging technologies. Students will work independently and in teams to further their programming knowledge, experience and production of code. Throughout the semester students are encouraged to apply the principles they have learned to the needs of their personal practice.
