Located in Cobleskill, NY, not too far from Cooperstown, lies an underground cave, Howe Caverns! We took the lantern tour at 6:15 p.m., a guided tour that takes us 156 feet below the Earth's surface! The cave is 56 degrees Fahrenheit, year-round, so wear a light jacket! The Lantern tour is about 2 hours long: the tour guide takes us through the cave and provides us a lot of history through this walking portion of the tour. Midway through the tour, we all hop on a boat that takes us through the cave by water! When we reach the end of the waterway, the tour guide lights up the lanterns and shuts off all the limited electricity! We are guided back by boat via our lanterns and we make the journey back by walking in the pitch black darkness with our lanterns. I find this tour very informative and adventurous.
