Arts and Flower Festivals

June sees many summer festivals in churches

Wednesday 3 June: Youth Pray, meeting at HYPeR

12 noon, monthly prayer meeting for the youth ministries and works across the area, followed by shared lunch

Thursday 4 June: West Park URC opening

West Park URC (Map/HG1 1LE) formal opening by Kevin Watson, Moderator of the URC Yorkshire Synod following the church re-ordering and development of the Stray View coffee shop and Fellowship room

5-6 June 2009: WYSoCS: Summer Lectures

8pm Friday, 10 and 12 noon on Saturday at Outwood House, Leeds (Map/LS18 4HR). Dr. Keith Sewell, Professor of History at Dordt College, Iowa on the shapers in the history of the church that produced what it is today along with an exploration of the shapes of today that will gain a hearing tomorrow for the Gospel of the Kingdom of God; £8 for one lecture, £12 for two lectures, £15 for three and concessions

Saturday 6 June: Recycling Bicycles

10am - 4pm, Harrogate Rugby Club (Map/HG1 4AG); organised by Harrogate Rotary Club

Tuesday 9 June: Castle Howard, Pannal WI

10am from St Robert's, Pannal; Pannal WI, Pannal Methodist Men's Fellowship also invited. Cost £28 to include coach, entrance to house and high tea on the way home

Wednesday 10 June: Whitley Lecture: A thousand crucifixions

7:30pm, Baptist (Map/HG1 5RD) with Rev Sally Nelson. 'What can the church say about suffering and pain?" The Christian call to take up the cross and follow Christ in the twenty-first century, with a special focus on the perception of disability; no charge,

10-4 daily at West Park URC (Map/HG1 1LE) Summer Festival of Arts and Music; refreshments available throughout the Festival in the re-developed Stray View coffee shop

Saturday 13 June: Living the Gospel

10-3.30pm at Hinsley Hall; St Robert's RC retreat day with Fr John Wilson, £15 inc lunch and refreshments

Thursday 18 June: Star Wars, The Simpsons and God

David Wilkinson, guest speaker, St Wilfrid's lectures, Ripon Cathedral. 'Star Wars,The Simpsons and God. The Role of the Church in a World of Pop Culture'

Saturday 20 June: Shaping Change for a Changing World

10-4pm, Woodlands Methodist (Map/HG2 7SG). 'Where is God leading the church?' Study day with Bev Hollings (District Evangelism Enabler) and David Hunt; tea & coffee provided, please bring lunch
