2.4 Liver

The liver produces bile.

• Bile produced in the liver and stored in the gall bladder. When the gall bladder contracts, bile is released into the duodenum via the bile duct.

Bile is a greenish yellow liquid that contains bile pigment.

Bile pigment is formed when red blood cells are broken down.

Bile helps in the emulsification of fats.
