Dr. Drew Sullivan, Veterinarian, Medical Director of the Medical District Veterinary Clinic, will be present to discuss the program and respond to questions. A light dinner will be served.

Tour - University of Illinois Vet Med Facilities

When: 11:00 am Saturday, Nov. 1

Where: meet at CTA station

Dr. Drew Sullivan, the Medical Director of the Medical District Veterinary Clinic at Illinois, will be giving a tour of the facility. It is the only Chicago-area clinic that is part of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. He will also be doing a Q&A session, as well as showing what information and opportunities University of Illinois has to offer students. We will be taking the CTA (Purple, Red & Blue lines), which will cost approximately $5.00 round trip. We will meet at 11:00am to arrive at the event at 1:00pm.

University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine

When: Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 5:30pm

Where: University Academic Advising Center, 1st floor conference room

We are so excited to announce our next event with Douglas A. Tindall, Coordinator of Student Recruitment at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. He will be discussing veterinary school admissions as well as answering our questions about the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and giving advice and tips for admissions success. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

Vet School Application Process - An Admitted Student's Perspective

When: Tuesday, May 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Come hear from an NU senior about how she navigated the veterinary school application process. Marie Keith plans to attend Kansas State next year. She will will host a presentation about her pre-veterinary experiences and VMCAS, followed by informal Q&A. Pizza/soft drinks will be provided.

Skype Session: Tufts University - Ford Barnet

Interested in the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University? Join us for a Skype session with admissions counselor Ford Barnet! It will be Q&A format, so please bring any questions you have and brainstorm topics you would like to hear more about.

VIDA Volunteer Opportunity

When: Thursday, November 7 at 8:30 p.m.

Where: Mudd (Tech) Library Room 227

Come meet other Northwestern pre-veterinary students and learn about the VIDA volunteer program. VIDA sends pre-medical and pre-veterinary students on volunteer trips to different countries in Central America, and gives those students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with local Veterinary and Medical professionals.

First General Meeting

When: Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 5-6 p.m.

Where: Tech Express (cafe located in Technological Institute)

We will be planning for the Public Health & Medicine Student Group Exhibit on Oct. 2. We also plan to brainstorm events for the upcoming quarter and school year.

Guest Speaker - Alyssa Stockdale

Hear from a recent NU graduate about navigating your way to veterinary school. Alyssa Stockdale will speak about her pre-veterinary experiences as a Northwestern student. Bring any questions you may have about completing pre-requisite courses, applications to veterinary schools or how to spend your summers.

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine

Attend an information session about the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Learn about the school’s program and admissions process. Presented by Leslie Andersen, Senior Associate Director of Admissions.

Guest Lecture: CCM Veterinarian

When: Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Attend a guest lecture about the role of a laboratory animal veterinarian and the breadth of opportunities in the field of laboratory animal medicine. Presented by Dr. Tracy Gluckman, who is a clinical veterinarian at the Center for Comparative Medicine and a research assistant professor in the Department of Pathology.

General Meeting

Attend a lecture titled “Alternative Careers in Veterinary Medicine.” Learn more about the various career opportunities available in the veterinary field. Presented by Tracey Hlede, DVM, Furnetic, Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine and Chicago Outreach Coordinator, University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

 Northwestern University Pre-Veterinary Society Meeting

When: Sunday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Where: Seeley G. Mudd Library (Tech library), Room #: 226

Gain insight into the pre-veterinary process from two Northwestern University students who recently got accepted into veterinary school. They will give a short presentation about their pre-veterinary experiences as undergrads and help you navigate the application process. Feel free to bring any questions you may have about road to veterinary school, about pre-requisite classes or about animal experience opportunities. Also, you’ll get the chance to meet other pre-veterinary students on campus.

Northwestern University Pre-Veterinary Society Meeting

When: Thursday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m.

Where: UAAC Conference room, 1st floor

Come check out the newly founded NU Pre-Veterinary Society at our first “official” meeting! Meet other pre-vet students on campus and share your quirky animal experiences. We plan to brainstorm ideas for future speakers, discuss potential club activities and get to know each other. If you plan to pursue a career with animals, be sure to attend this meeting and become involved. Food will be provided.
