Nuclear Golf Society Rules

 

1.      The society will be known as the Nuclear Golf Society (NGS).

 

2.      The purpose of the society is a day out with fellow golfers from various golf clubs where winning is secondary to having

          an enjoyable/fun day out.

 

3.      An Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) will be held.

 

4.      a) A Committee (Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer) will be nominated and voted for at the A.G.M.


               b) The Committees decisions are final.

 

5.       Membership will be charged (Annually).

 

6.      Annual membership entitles persons that year to be able to

 

    a)    Win society Trophies/Shields at each event

b)    Win the Brimble & James (overall) Trophy

c)    Win the Old Git’s Trophy (55, 60’s,  65 and over, starting on their 65th B/day)

d)    Win society day prizes

e)    Win ‘hole in one’ fund for traditional purchase of drinks (£75)

f)     Pay Society day price

g)    Attend A.G.M.

h)    Have priority for Golf days/Special events (Anniversary weekends etc.)

 

7.      Non-Members/Guest are

 

      a)      Not allowed to win Trophies/Shield

b)      Not allowed to win the Brimble & James (overall) Trophy

c)      Not allowed to win the Old Git’s (overall) Trophy

d)      Able to win society day prizes

e)      Not entitled to hole in one money

f)       To pay extra for society days (above members price)

g)      Not entitled to play in the Turkey Trot  (For 17, Against 1, Abstained 2)

   Therefore can play in Turkey trot events

h)      Not entitled to attend A.G.M.

 

8.      Venues for each year will be voted on by the members who attend the A.G.M.

 

9.      Cost of Society Days to be determined by the Treasurer.

 

10.    Members playing a society day on their own course will not be charged the green fee (providing said course allows) 

         for that day.

 

11.    a) The Captain will start each society Day.

 

   b) The Vice Captain to deputise for the Captain if he is unavailable.

 

12.    The Treasurer (if not drawn in the first group) will be in the second group to enable him to collect monies in the 

          lunchtime/evening.

 

13.    Each event will be in 3 Balls (where possible), consisting of the morning round being an 18 hole individual stableford

         event (full handicap unless otherwise stated) and the afternoon round to be a 18 hole Team event (format decided by the

         Captain). Turkey Trot and other …. Dictating!

   2018 AGM – where a 2 ball is involved in the afternoon round (Team event) a ghost player will be used.

   2019 AGM – A trial of playing in 4 Balls due to people using Buggies (Lone Player) will take place in 2021.


14.    Nuclear Golf Society Handicap –

 

a)       All Players will start the New Society year on their current WHS Index h/cap or NGS Handicap rolled over from the previous season.

b)       New Society members who do not have a WHS Index h/c will have a society handicap decided by the Committee (Chairman,

          Secretary, Treasurer, Handicap Secretary) and use as a course h/c. 

c)       Handicaps are adjusted after every NGS day.

d)       Players scoring 28-36pts will not receive any Handicap adjustment, this  will be known as the Buffer Zone.

e)       Players will receive a Handicap reduction of 1 per point when scoring over 36 points (i.e. a player scoring 40 points will be cut, 4 x 1 = 4 shots).

f)        Players will receive a Handicap increase of 0.5 per point when scoring below 28 points (i.e. a player scoring 24 points will receive, 4 x 0.5 = 2 shots). 

g)       Maximum Handicap will be 36.

h)       Reductions or increases to WHS/Club Handicap will not affect the "Nuclear Golf Society Handicap".

c)       Players will play off of their current (WHS Index, converted to Course h/c then Playing h/c or Society h/c 

          used as a Course h/c then Playing h/c) handicap unless previously cut on a society day (that year).

d)       Any player winning an Individual Prize/Trophy will be cut (from their WHS Index or Society h/c) a shot per point

          under par (to a maximum of 5 shots) at each golf day, starting from the next society day until the end of that

          society year.

e)       Players who have been cut in a society year cannot go back up.

 

 

15.    All Society Trophies/Shields remain the property of the NGS and are to be returned the next society year for presentation

        to that year’s winner of said Trophy/Shield. A fine will be levied if not.

 

16.    All winners of Society Trophies/Shields are to get and pay for the engraving of their name on Trophy/Shield won.

 

17.   Any person not attending a society golf day without sufficient notice (inform Secretary 3 7 days prior to) will incur whatever

        the charges are levied on the Treasurer that day.

 

18.   All deposits/monies are Non-Refundable.

 

19.   Any Player attending a NGS golf day/event to provide own Insurance cover for said event/day.
