Yi-Cheng's expertise lies at the intersection of optics and neuroscience. His primary work utilizes Two-Photon Microscopy to study the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (SCN) in the mouse brain, a key regulator of sleep and circadian rhythm.

He is pioneering a novel optical approach that incorporates a GRIN lens to overcome the depth limitation of traditional microscopy. The ultimate objective is to obtain a full-field view of SCN neural circuitry in vivo, providing critical insights into the brain's clock mechanism.
