Police Youth Ambassador

Sec 3 cadets

PYA is a VIA project to be conducted outside the school community. Cadets are to understand that taking ownership in improving the safety and security of the community beyond school is an important part of being socially conscious – serving the common good.

You may direct your cadets to the Cadet Learning Hub to learn more about CSSP and PYA.

To qualify for the PYA Badge

1. Teacher officers are to ensure that their unit collaborates with NPCs to complete their PYA project.

2. You may:

  • Submit a proposal to the NPC with your identified area of concern and request their support

  • Work with the NPC on their existing project

  • Collaborate with the NPC to develop a project that serves both unit and NPC

3. All Sec 3 cadets will then plan the same project. They may involve other cadets in the implementation of the project.

Tips

There must always be cadet interaction with the public. Patrols or posting videos online alone is not acceptable! Your cadets must interact with members of public to share the message.

(Note: Cadet interaction can be face-to-face or online.)

  • Link up with your respective NPCs early.

  • If you have difficulty trying to get a date for implementation, organise and plan your own outreach and inform the NPCs to be present during the implementation. This way, you are in control of the outreach instead of the NPCs.

  • Please note that with effect from 9 October 2019, the updated guidance is as follows:

    • For the units’ PYA projects, to avoid designing community-outreach posters/flyers in view of the complexity in clearing the content for public communication.

    • PYA should only use crime prevention / SGSecure or other internally cleared materials from SPF when they join the NPC CPU officers for the joint community-outreach activity.

    • NPCC school units should continue to engage their NPC CPU counterparts for the most current / relevant SPF-cleared community-outreach materials.
