The Daughters of Bryce and Jane

The two Russell daughters captured and taken away by the Indian Logan and another Indian were probably Rachel and Isabella. Stories repeated from generation to generation in the family generally go something like this:

Rachel and Isabella were kidnapped and taken to an Indian village, where they were held captive and were probably going to be tortured to death. A man, Raif Nailer, was also a captive there. Somehow the three managed to escape and rode a stolen horse through the forest to get back to the settlements. Raif couldn't help both women get away fast enough, so Rachel volunteered to stay and hide in the forest while Raif helped Isabella escape. Then Raif returned (one presumes after getting reinforcements), found Rachel, and got her back to the settlements, too.

Later Raif and Isabella were married. They had three daughters, the youngest of which was born in 1782.
