In Novendragos the mortal races hold dominion but are influenced, motivated, and manipulated by three dominant forces. Deep within Novendragos lies D'Zhok where the tainted spirits of the dead serve the azhra eternally. High above Novendragos is the D'Rakt where the pure spirits of the dead serve the kai eternally. Parallel to Novendragos are the Lands of Solace and Mourning where the dead may be trapped forever.
Below are detailed the high powers of D'Rakt and D'zhok.
Lawful Good
Vro'kahn is the light at the center of the universe. His titles are Preserver, Lord of Light, and His Platinum Glory. Of the tro'kai he is most merciful and teaches his followers the value in preservation of life and ideals and morality. In an effort to preserve life and the greater good some of his followers can be found on crusade across the land campaigning against the dark cults of azhra.
Portfolio: Justice, life, light, protection, sun
Domains: Dragons, Glory, Good, Law, Protection, Sun
Priest Training: The Temple of the Preserver is the most widely accepted religion in the land and therefore does not have a difficult time attracting followers. Missionaries of the Preserver can be found in most parts of the land and those missionaries look for signs of light, strength, and zeal among their followers to train. It seems that those who show the strongest signs come from Kendron as the missionaries and knights are largely populated by kendroni natives.
Quests: Quests for the followers of Vro'kahn nearly always involve a crusade. Knights crusade against the tyranny of Dragonsbane. They crusade into the wilds to destroy the spawn of azhra. They crusade in search of relics that will bring glory to their name. In all quests they crusade to preserve the common good.
Prayers: Prayers to Vro'kahn are solemn but by no means silent. Typical prayers for blessings of protection are as follows, "May His light preserve you" or "Seek mercy in his winged embrace."
Temples: Vro'kahn's temples are large two-story buildings with a large stained glass dome on the roof. These temples are always situated with the angle of the sun in mind so that at noon, when mass is held the sun at its zenith spreads its rays upon the congregation.
Rites: Many marriages and baptisms are conducted in the summer when the sun is at its apex. Festivals are conducted on the solstices and equinoxes which denote particular points in the sky where the sun is at. Platinalia is the largest celebration held on the summer solstice when the sun is in the sky the longest.
Herald and Allies: Vro'kahn uses an ancient gold dragon as his herald. When his last herald died at the hands of a sniper belonging to the Knights of Man he took as his herald a red dragon whose scales turned gold after she claimed the position.
Relics: gauntlet of the talon, platinum helm.
Ki'rmaak is the Destroyer whose grip tests the strength of her followers. Her titles are Destroyer, Triunal Mother, and Fury of the Storm. She is a cruel and a vengeful god who teaches her followers that in order to be strong one must burn away all weaknesses. The azhra are a blight upon the land and simultaneously a test for her followers - for only the strongest can survive against the might of the azhra.
Portfolio: Conflict, destruction, fire, storms.
Domains: Chaos, Darkness, Destruction, Fire, Strength, War
Priest Training: Rather than being chosen, her clerics feel they have been called. Typically a follower will feel the call only after he has been tested by every physical infirmity and has still proven himself to be stronger than the rest of his brothers. Other priests will often look for those who have shown these signs and cultivate her teachings within them.
Quests: Quests for Ki'rmaak often involve one of two things -- a chance to grow stronger through testing oneself in conflict or the destruction of enemies. Followers of Ki'rmaak often quest against undead and the azhra and can also be found in mercenary companies in the employ of some lord who is leading a military conflict.
Prayers: Prayers to Ki'rmaak often end with "May Her talons pierce the Veil." When going into battle her followers may exclaim, "Our storm is Her fury!"
Temples: Ki'rmaak's temples are never found in civilized nations. In the wild however one may encounter a grand ziggurat devoted to her. These ziggurats are often home to her high priest and a powerful cadre of followers. Great wealth is said to exist beneath the halls of these temples.
Rites: Many of the ceremonies dedicated to Ki'rmaak involve sacrifice -- whether personal or the sacrifice of an enemy. To prove their strength many of her followers ritually sever a part of their enemies body to use as a trophy. Rites of passage are often competitive such as the Rite of Tooth and Talon where a youngster must hunt his prey and best it single handedly in order to be accepted among his peers.
Herald and Allies: Ki'rmaak uses an ancient red dragon as her herald. She has no allies among the azhra.
Relics: chromatic rod, dragonscale cloak.
Taraslian is the Knower whose eye watches over the scales of the balance and fate. His title is Knower. He is a mysterious and enigmatic god whose very few followers are just as unknowable. What is known of his followers is that they do seem to fight against the azhra when they are present though they do not actively seek them out.
Portfolio: balance, fate, foresight, rebirth, stars, watchfulness
Domains: Balance, Creation, Fate, Knowledge, Oracle, Rune
Priest Training: Priests of Taraslian are very rare, but those who do wish to become true followers of the Knower must go into isolation where they must purify their bodies, fast, and meditate. This is usually done under extreme circumstances such as in intense heat or intense cold. Near the end of their meditation they receive a vision. It is said that this vision is the sign that they are now priests of Taraslian.
Quests: Typical quests for Taraslian include watching the movements and habits of different peoples, kingdoms, races, cults, and organizations. Because of this the priests often find ways of adapting to different cultures so they appear less intrusive. Usually the priests aren't even considered priests at all considering no proseletyzing is done at all.
Prayers: Prayers to Taraslian are always written and spoken as psalms. These psalms are often riddled with metaphor and hidden meaning that only a devout follower of Taraslian will understand. A typical quote from a priest of Taraslian is as follows, "For every star is His eyes and every man is a star bound to flesh."
Temples: Actual temples to Taraslian are rare. However, when followers become zealous enough to build temples to the Knower they build elaborate nine-sided buildings of magnificent stone. To date only two such temples are known to exist -- one on the Tro'kai Summit in The Old Land and the second exists on an airborne island hovering far above Dragosia.
Rites: Rituals are performed at night beneath a clear sky typically when two or more of the three moons are new. These rituals are done typically to invoke the wisdom of Taraslian and to attune themselves to the stars and the earth.
Herald and Allies: Taraslian has no allies or heralds.
