Obituary Index: Every attempt has been made to include every name which has appeared in obituaries in local papers. During the time period included the newspapers and publications varied in their practices related to publishing obituaries. Some published formal obituaries and others simply used news articles to convey information. The volunteers have worked diligently to include all information relevant to local obituaries. The microfilm records used in the project came from a variety of archival and commercial sources. Some sources did not have access to every single issue of all published newspapers. No attempt has been made by the volunteers to create a record of every issue missing from the individual rolls of film.

  • You may visit the Rhinelander District Library, in person and obtain copies of the obituaries directly from the newspaper microfilm.

  • Contact the society directly to obtain a photocopy of the obituary. A charge of $3 will be required.

  • The Society uses the fees generated to purchase materials for the genealogy collection.

Forest Home Cemetery Database on City of Rhinelander website The City of Rhinelander website has an index of burials in the Forest Home Cemetery. This database lists name, block, lot, grave and year of burial. The early burials prior to 1900 are not included.
