NZ Herald Death Notices

North Shore branch has a collection of “The New Zealand Herald” birth and death notices from the early 1940’s through to current date. The collection contains almost all notices published in that newspaper from 1983 – years prior to that may not be so complete.

Each year from the 1940s has been indexed, either by surname only, or Christian name and surname. If you are requiring a notice for a year that has not been indexed, please ask – we may still be able to provide it.

In your request, please include the name of person and date (preferably day, month and year – if only year known that will suffice) of event (birth or death). If the requested notice is located, an extract will be forwarded to you. For mail requests, please include a stamped & addressed envelope for reply.
