Goals

  • To support the NC CEC in general and the NC CEC Conference in particular by providing a pre-conference workshop and a behavior strand and encouraging member attendance
  • To support the NCDPI, the Department of Exceptional Children Conference on Exceptional Children by encouraging member attendance and providing members a meet-and-greet networking
  • To support the CCBD Conference to be convened in Atlanta, GA in the fall 2015 by encouraging member attendance and proposal submission opportunity
  • To actively participate in the CCBD Regional Services and Membership Committee by supporting a Board representative to attend Regional Services Committee (RSM) Meetings at the annual International CEC Conference and the fall 2015 CCBD Conference and by submitting an annual report to the RSM Chair
  • To communicate at least bi-annually (fall and spring) to the NC CCBD membership on Board goals and activities, NCDPI initiatives, professional development opportunities, and issues concerning children and youth with EBD via a web-based newsletter
  • To develop and post a NC CCBD website
  • To conduct a web-based election for the NC CCBD Board in the spring 2015
  • To restore the NC CCBD account with the NC State Employees Credit Union
  • To complete a financial plan for maintaining a viable NC CCBD budget
  • To establish NC CCBD standing committees and successfully recruit members to those committees [Membership, Advocacy, Professional Development, Communication }
  • To be the voice and vision of special education for children and youth with or at risk of Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD) within North Carolina by advocating CCBD positions and establishing cooperative partnerships within CEC, with general education, and with other state organizations with shared commitment

Membership Committee

  • Increase NC CCBD membership
  • Increase NC CCBD membership participations in activities and events

Legislative and Advocacy Committee

  • Identify a specific topic relevant to NC CCBD members that is or could be influenced by legislation and provide on-going advocacy, resources, and a platform for engaged activism, dialogue, and increased awareness (e.g., Mental health, juvenile justice).
  • Increase NC CCBD membership participation in legislative and advocacy efforts

Publication and Communication Committee

  • To provide members access to information and communication regarding NC CCBD in multiple formats, including but not limited to
    • Flyer, Poster, and handouts
    • Newsletter and Website

Student Representatives

  • Recruit student members across the state of North Carolina to join CEC and NC CCBD
  • Coordinate student presentation and/or meet-and-greet sessions at NC CEC Conference
