Paracorixa concinna (Fieber 1848)

This is a bug i have found in more early successional habitats although it is more widely associated to and Ponds, gravel pits and small lakes. It is also a ready migrant to light traps.

It appears to be partially tolerant of Saline conditions especially if there has been temporary saline pollution such as run off from salted roads. (AAS, 1989)

Distribution:

Widespread but Un-common across Northants occurring in 16 10k squares and 21 5k squares.

Habitat:

Found in a variety of Ponds, Gravel pits and lakes. Usually early successional sites with little or no vegetation.

Identification:

This can easily be distinguished from other corixidae by the black markings on both the claw and last segment of the hind tarsus.
