Saldula orthochila (Fieber)

This is a “dry-land” saldid, found on sandy heaths, on evolved dunes, fields and even on lawns. It is distributed throughout the British Isles, including the Orkneys and Shetlands, save perhaps for south-western Eire: it is more common in the northern part of its range.

Adults overwinter and mating takes place in May or early June. The new adults are present from July onwards.
