Adjuster Mechanism

The original patent for the Norris Adjuster does not call for a separate threaded bango that screws into the adjuster stem. I don't have one of those. The adjuster mechanisms for each of the planes I have uses a threaded bango, but the center mechanism is different in each. In the earliest, the mechanism is solid, in the prewar plane that is stamped in 1927 by its owner, there is a small hole in the center of the adjuster mechanism. The Postwar adjuster has a slotted screw at 3 o'clock. In theory as the threads wear down, the screw can be tightened to remove slack from the mechanism. I have not read any account of any one trying that adjustment - so not sure if it would work.
