Over 9.5 Basics
The only tool you have to keep overtime worked over 9.5 hours down is a 9.5 grievance.
All full-time package car drivers are eligible to sign the "Opt-In" list.
A driver may add or delete their name from the list at any time, with one weeks notice to UPS. Download the form below.
To file a grievance you must meet one of the following conditions:
(1) the employee covers a route for a full week.
(2) the employee bids or is assigned to cover a route for a full week but is prevented from completing that bid or assignment due to reassignment by the employer.
(3) an employee with four(4) years seniority as a full-time package driver.
You can only file a grievance if you have worked over 9.5 hours at least three times in one work week.
Once you have filed a grievance you will be paid triple time for ALL time worked over 9.5 hours in that work week
Your grievance check will be the sum of all your time worked over 9.5 hours multiplied by your rate of pay at time and one half. (You were already paid time and one half on your regular paycheck).
You can find the Over 9.5 Grievance Form below. You can find the 9.5 contract language on the UPS Contract page.
You can find your hours on the Time Card Viewer at UPSers.com. Your Worked Hours for a particular day will be your Total Hours minus your Unpaid Meal.
