Don't feel too bad that you are not able to do your route as fast as management says you should. The first picture is from a package car used for Intergrad training. This is the type of load UPS basis its training and time allowances on. If Orion wants you to select a Next Day Air package located at the section seven floor you would have no problem. The problem is you will never see a load like the picture on the left. The second picture is an actual package car load. If Orion changes your route to deliver a package located at the section seven floor you will not be able to do it within the time given for package selection. Orion is a fantastic system with an overzealous algorithm that frequently has you trying to select packages out of the normal delivery order. This wastes lots of time that is not built in to your allowances. Management use to give us the ability to switch Orion off if following it didn't make sense. Because Orion frequently doesn't make sense many drivers switched it off. Management didn't like this and took away this option. So the days of quick and efficient package selection are behind us. Do not try to make up for lost time in selection by running or driving over the speed limit because that is not safe. All you can do now is work as efficiently as Orion and the load allows.
