489 Squadron Association was initially formed to assist with the publication of 489: An Unofficial History of No 489 Torpedo Bomber Squadron; and the associated book launch in 2007. It now provides a significant role in maintaining links between of 489 personnel and an ever growing number their families via a newsletter (Keeping in Touch), which is distributed three times a year. Copies of this newsletter can be viewed on this website.
In September 2016, a second volume 489 Early Days, Beauforts, Blenheims and Hampdens was printed.It is currently being sent to our bulk distributors courtesy of the RNZAF and Mainfreight. Distribution to former Squadron members and their families both in NZ ndd overseas has now been completed. If we have missed you, please get in touch as there are a few copies left.
Copies for researchers and interested members of the public are in some military and aviation museums.

UPDATE May 2025
As the original purpose of 489 Squadron Association had been met with the publication of two books about the history of 489 Squadron (ediited by David Burrowes), the committee decided to wind up the Association.
Anne Plank (nee Blampied), Martin Blampied and UK Coordinators (Helen and Rob Evers) will be joined by Don Wilkie ( who recently published Forgotten Heroes another history of 489 Squadron will continue the work of the Association. in remembering 489 Squadron, and liasing with other organisations who do likewise. These include Langham Dome Society, Norway Day commerations at Jossing Fjord and ANZAC services at the Dallachy memorial
