Camp Cards

Camp Cards are a Great Way to Earn Your Way!

What are Camp Cards?

A Camp Card is a discount card that provides the purchaser numerous discounts to restaurants and retailers all throughout our area. The sale begins March 1st and ends May 1st. This program is RISK-FREE, simply return any unsold cards at settlement on or before May 31, 2021.

The Camp Card sale is offered through the Garden State Council and provides a no-risk opportunity for all Scouts to sell discount merchant cards to help them earn their way to camp, pay for uniform supplies, or even to support annual registration and dues.

The 9th point of the Scout law states: “A Scout is thrifty” and is defined as “A Scout works to pay their way and to help others. They save for the future. They protect and conserve natural resources. A Scout is careful in their use of time and property."

What is on the card?

ShopRite and Philly Pretzel Factory offer a generous one-time discount which makes the sale of this card a no-brainer. Harbor Freight, Edible Arrangements, Carters, McDonald's, Subway, White Castle and many more have offered special discounts that you can use throughout the year. Take advantage of this partnership to help your Scouts get to camp.

Everyone who buys a card will also receive access to the Entertainment Promotion Network — thousands of local offers sorted by zip code — valid for one year AFTER it is activated.

HOW TO SELL CAMP CARDS

DOOR TO DOOR

Take your sales pitch and cards for a trip around the neighborhood. Highlight the great coupons!

SHOW & SELL

Set up a sales booth and sell camp cards on the spot (but not at Shoprite or at Philly Pretzel Factory). This can be an effective approach in the right location at the right time, but don't hang your hat on this approach alone.

SELL AT WORK

A great way for Mom & Dad to help their Scout. Have Mom & Dad take the camp cards to work.

SALES TECHNIQUES FOR SCOUTS

Don't miss the opportunity to use the Camp Card sale to train your Scouts in public speaking, sales, and service. Scouts and parents will appreciate the effort and sales will improve. Have Scouts role play and practice beforehand. Find a way to make training fun and reward Scouts who do a good job.

Have your Scouts practice these simple steps:

  • Wear your uniform

  • Smile and tell them who you are - FIRST NAME ONLY!

  • Tell them where you are from (Cub Scout Pack 59 Cinnaminson)

  • Tell them what you are doing (earning money toward summer camp, weekend adventures, etc.)

  • Tell them what they can do to help (save money with the Camp Card)

  • Close the sale, and thank them

Tips for Selling Camp Cards

Are your Scouts looking forward to their summer camp adventure this summer? Are they also having a hard time selling Camp Cards during the current “stay at home” mandate? Here are some great tips on how your Scouts can still sell Camp Cards and “earn their way to camp”!

Tip #1: Set a Goal and Craft a Message

Scouts should set a goal and create a message that explains their goal to their customers. This could be a poster, a video… get creative! Potential customers want to support kids who are working toward an exciting experience. Explain that the Camp Card will benefit the customer because of the discounts -- families are still grocery shopping, so now is the perfect time to use the Shop Rite $5.00 off one-time-use break-off coupon on the Camp Card -- but will also benefit the Scout because of the experiences!

Tip #2: Define the Market

Scouts can define their market. They can work with their parent/guardian to develop a list of every family member, neighbor, co-worker, and other contacts they have, and make a plan for the best ways to contact them. Who can you reach through email? Who can you reach through social media? Who is best reached with a phone call? Units can also support the Scouts by promoting the sale on their websites and social media channels.

Tip #3: Customer Convenience

Make transactions easy with contactless delivery and even digital payments. With proper safety measures in place, you can make pickup/delivery arrangements with your local customers. Digital payment tools like PayPal, Venmo, and the Cash App carry no fees with person-to-person transactions; and these digital tools can help parents keep track of a Scout’s sales.

Share Your Success

If your Scout has an innovative and effective way to sell Camp Cards while “staying at home,” please share on Facebook so we can share it with all of the local Scout Units that are selling Camp Cards! Let’s help our Scouts “earn their way to camp”!
