Webelos Outdoor Adventure at Camp Yawgoog

Webelos Outdoor Adventure at Camp Yawgoog - 7 Days & Nights:

  • From August 9 to 16 (Sunday through Sunday) Mr. Gehringer will lead an expedition up to Yawgoog Scout Reservation in southwest Rhode Island. I camped there for five years and worked there for four summers. While parents do not need to stay at all at camp we will need transportation.
  • Yawgoog offers a Webelos program as follows: "We know that boys and girls are attracted to Scouting by the promise of adventure in the great outdoors! That’s why we’re all so excited about the Webelos program at Yawgoog – especially designed for your Webelos Scout. This program will run each of the eight weeks of summer camp and will give your Scout the experience of a lifetime. Arrival at camp is on Sunday afternoon and you will be greeted by our trained staff in Camp Medicine Bow, Campsite Sequan. Your Scout will then be assigned to a 12’ X 16’ Adirondacks (complete with bunk beds) with five other Webelos who will form a den. If other Scouts from the pack are attending we’ll make sure they’re in the same Adirondacks! Adult leaders are housed in separate tents. As your Scout settles in you’ll have a chance to meet and talk with the camp staff about the week ahead. Activities will begin that evening with a tour of camp, pizza followed by a welcome campfire in the campsite. Then at 9:45 it’s “taps”, giving Scouts the opportunity to dream about the adventure that lies ahead!"
  • Den Leaders are welcome to attend but are not required. Parents wishing to attend need to be registered with the BSA and provide proof of Youth Protection Training at check-in. A Den or Pack sending four or more Scouts will be allowed to have one leader stay the week for free. Half week sessions are available (Sunday through Wednesday Evening or Wednesday through Sunday).
  • Program for Webelos Scouts will include but is not limited to: knot tying, BB range, archery, nature, pioneering, first aid, forestry, low-ropes, initiative games, handicap awareness trail, rowing, swimming, water sports, leatherwork, basketry, star gazing and hiking. Ample free time is also given to just take it easy.
  • Scout: $490.00 for the first week, $245.00 for a second week
  • Den Leader / Registered Adult: $250 for the week (after free included adults)
