The maps below show the development of the Norwegian air network from 1950 to 2010, at 10-year intervals. The maps show the commercial airports and scheduled domestic flight connections on the four largest airlines that have operated in Norway since World War II: Braathens SAFE, Norwegian, SAS, and Widerøe.
Simplified versions of these maps appear in the forthcoming paper Rattsø, J. and Sheard, N., "Airports and regional development: the expansion of the Norwegian air network, 1950–2019", Journal of Economic Geography, which studies the effects of the expansion of the air network on regional development.
