I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.  My research is primarily in urban, regional, real estate, and transportation economics.

The main theme of my research is in estimating the economic effects of transport infrastructure.  I have written papers that estimate the effects of US airports on local employment, wages, and production, on the local shares of different industries, and on the distribution of employment across the country.  I also have a paper that tests the arguments for airport consolidation, using US data.

My other research includes a paper that develops a method for quantifying the benefits of passenger travel, including the intangible benefits, another on the regional economic effects of vacation-home policy in Norway, and a paper on the economic consequences of the 'railway gauge muddle' in Australia.

My other research in on a range of topics related to the economics of cities, regions, and transportation.  More detail is on my research page and a list of my papers is on my Google Scholar page.  A collection of spatial data and maps from my work is here.
