Annabel with her oriental doll by Natalie Bergstrom. All dolls are for sale - please email niadadollcollector@gmail.com
When doll collecting was at its peak in Australia, and people lined up for hours to be first into the Doll shows, there was always a great rush to get to Australian Artist Natalie Bergstrom's table. Her cloth dolls were always greatly in demand, and as her output was relatively small, a collector needed to be quick off the mark, in order to get one of her dolls. This lovely example, of a little girl with her oriental doll was created in 1992, out of paperclay, in collaboration with her daughter Dana. As their earlier dolls were completed in felt, this was a totally new medium for them to work in. The doll is 17 inches tall, and dressed in a navy and white sailor dress. The pink ribbons in her hair, and the charming expression on her face, make her highly desirable to any collector. The addition of the little oriental doll that she holds, makes her even more outstanding. These dolls are one of a kind and come with a card attesting to their authenticity.
